Dr. Ivo Ganchev Chairs Panel FA01 (East Asia in the World) at ISA Virtual 2024
Dr. Ivo Ganchev, Founding Director of the Centre for Regional Integration, chaired and served as a discussant on the panel FA01 titled “East Asia in the World” at the International Studies Association (ISA) Virtual 2024 conference, held from July 30 to August 2, 2024. The ISA is the world’s largest and most prestigious professional association in international politics.
This panel, part of the conference’s “Building Connections to Confront Complex Challenges” theme, brought together leading scholars to explore China’s evolving role on the global stage.
The participants included a mix of emerging and established scholars participants, featuring: Deye Li (The University of Chicago), Lin Pu (Australian National University), Miyoko Taniguchi (Miyazaki University), Yeojoo Jeon (University of Tokyo) and Yechan Moon (Yonsei University).
The discussion examined China’s evolving role in global politics, focusing on its strategic maneuvers and diplomatic engagements across various regions and sectors. Papers explored how China’s foreign policy adapts to the shifting dynamics of international relations and global governance. The panel will provide insights into China’s strategies for navigating complex global challenges, including trade, security, and environmental issues, highlighting the implications for international stability and cooperation.
