BCCCI Leadership Discusses Bulgaria-China Trade Relations with BCCI Chairman
The leadership of the Bulgaria-China Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCCI) visited the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) and met with its President, Mr. Tsvetan Simeonov, to discuss the development of trade and economic relations between Bulgaria and China. The visit was led by the Chairman of BCCCI, Mr. Latchezar Dinev and by the Vice-Chairman, Dr. Ivo Ganchev, a leading expert on China’s foreign policy.
The leadership of the two chambers talked about the existing barriers to bilateral cooperation and the increasing negative trade balance in the exchange of goods with China in recent years. The upcoming initiatives of BCCCI and its participation in exhibitions were also topics of the conversation.
Mr. Simeonov shared that the appointment of a new ambassador of Bulgaria in Beijing is an important step for the development of bilateral relations. Both sides stressed the need to speed up the procedure for appointing a new head of the Trade and Economic Office of Bulgaria in Beijing and to enhance the cooperation between regions of China and Bulgaria.
Mr. Dinev reiterated that many European countries such as the Netherlands have numerous trade representatives in China.He also pointed out that very few Bulgarian products are currently sold in China and none of them are high-tech. Dr. Ivo Ganchev added that the Bulgarian exports to China should develop in the direction of high-tech products. He also emphasized the importance of exchanging students and scientific potential in order to do business.
The meeting was part of the regular dialogue and cooperation between BCCI and BCCCI, which aim to promote the interests of the Bulgarian business community and to facilitate the trade and investment opportunities with China. BCCCI is a non-governmental organization that was established in 2019 to support the development of the economic relations between Bulgaria and China.
